Anxiety
Anxiety is your body’s response to your mind’s interpretation of events. One can have anxious feelings, thoughts, and physiological experiences. Anxiety types include Obsessive-compulsive disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, PTSD, Panic Disorders and Phobias. Dr. Silverman has treated Anxiety most successfully with a combination of the following protocol:
- First, he educates his patients on the signs, symptoms, and responses to both real and imagined anxiety. This includes a deeper understanding of how your brain works and handles anxiety.
- Second, like any new skill, clients practice various CBT techniques designed to make you more aware of your thoughts and feelings. With this increased awareness, you become more in control of your responses to anxiety-provoking situations. Deep Breathing, virtual reality to simulate anxiety-provoking situations, and role-playing may all play a part in decreasing the client’s anxiety levels.
