Message to first-time clients
Dr. Scott Silverman is an experienced and passionate Educator. He has taken the skills he has learned over many years and learned to apply them to his private therapy practice. This includes teaching patients self-regulation skills, mindfulness skills, meditation skills, and how to effectively use tools in Cognitive Behavior Therapy to help decrease maladaptive thinking patterns. When under the care of Dr. Silverman you may find yourself exploring some of your deepest beliefs about how you view yourself or someone else in a current or past relationship. You then have a more clear vision and understanding of how your automatic and reactive behavior limits your ability to control your own reactions. This prevents you from using healthy strategies and behavioral responses which will clearly give you more power in your emotional regulation ability. You may also incorporate Mindfulness practices to strengthen your power to feel, think, and react rather than feel, react, and think after the fact. Dr. Silverman has many years of experience with teens and adults in al areas that life can cause problems with how you feel. He’s open to any avenue that can help with treatment from traditional to alternative practices. “ I believe in the whole person as well as the body-mind connection. Having been trained in the past as a personal trainer I value the impact exercise and nutrition have on the overall effect on mental health. I have also worked with professional athletes and see how mental skills training can enhance one’s mood and overall functioning.
